These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the Landie Communications Pty Ltd (“Landie,” “we,” “us,” “our”) website (the “Website”), the retro-style Landie home phone device (the “Device”), and the associated calling service (the “Service”).
The Service enables voice calls over the internet (VoIP) using your home Wi-Fi and broadband, supported by third-party telecom providers (including Twilio).
These Terms are between Landie Communications Pty Ltd (ABN 71 691 334 291) and the adult parent or legal guardian setting up and supervising a child user (“you,” “Parent”). The Device is intended for children aged 6–13 and must always be used under parental supervision.
By using the Website, the Device, or the Service, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
1. Service Description
The Service routes calls through your home Wi-Fi and broadband connection.
 The Device includes a dedicated local phone number, provided by our telecom partners.
Call types supported:
  • Calls to and from Australian mobile and landline numbers
  • Calls between Landie users
  • 000 emergency calling
Pilot and early access context:
 During early rollout, Device availability and features may vary as we test, improve, and expand the Service.
You onboard by completing a web form and connecting the included Wi-Fi router and ATA to your home internet.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
To use the Service, you must:
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Be the Parent or legal guardian of the child using the Device
  • Ensure the child user is aged 6–13
  • Supervise all use of the Device
  • Provide and maintain a suitable home Wi-Fi and broadband connection
You are responsible for:
  • Safe placement and installation of equipment
  • Managing approved contacts
  • Ensuring your home network remains active and secure
3. Acceptable Use
You (and your child) must not use the Device or Service to:
  • Break Australian law
  • Harass, threaten, or abuse others
  • Make malicious, fraudulent, or hoax calls
  • Interfere with, tamper with, or reverse-engineer the hardware
  • Conduct automated, commercial, bulk, or spam calling
  • Attempt to bypass safety or service controls
Landie may suspend or terminate the Service for misuse, safety concerns, or legal reasons.
4. Hardware and Third-Party Services
The Device works using off-the-shelf hardware components:
  • A Wi-Fi router
  • An Analog Telephone Adapter (ATA)
  • A 12V power adapter
Voice routing and numbering services are provided by Twilio and other telecom partners. Their technical limitations may affect performance. Landie may change suppliers or components to improve reliability.
5. Fees and Subscription Model
Free Device (First Families / Early Program Only)
Early participants may receive the Device free of charge.
Free Calling for 3 Months
Each new Device includes three (3) months of unlimited calls to and from Australian mobile and landline numbers at no cost.
No payment information is required during this free period.
Subscription After the Free Period
After the first three months, continued calling requires a paid subscription:
Price: $5 per week
 Billing options: weekly or monthly
 Start of billing: only after you actively opt in
 No automatic charging: You will not be billed unless you submit payment details.
Contacting Families in Early 2026
We will contact you in early 2026 with simple instructions to:
  • Start your subscription, or
  • Decline and allow the service to end
If you do not opt in, your calling service will stop automatically at the end of the free period (000 will remain available).
You remain responsible for your home internet and electricity costs.
6. Emergency Calling (000)
The Device supports calling 000 for emergencies.
You agree to:
  • Keep the Device in a location accessible to your child
  • Educate household members on responsible use of emergency services
  • Maintain stable home internet so emergency calling functions reliably
If your internet or power fails, 000 calling may be unavailable. Keep a mobile phone accessible at all times.
7. Parental Responsibilities
You agree to:
  • Directly supervise your child’s use of the Device
  • Manage approved contacts and any call restrictions
  • Place the Device and equipment safely, avoiding cord hazards
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network remains active, password-protected, and reliable
  • Explain to your child how and when to use 000 appropriately
  • Comply with these Terms and all applicable Australian laws
8. Privacy
Our handling of personal information is described in the Landie Privacy Policy (Australia).
 We collect only the data necessary to provide the Service, including minimal call metadata (e.g., timestamps, call length).
We do not record or store audio from calls.
Parents can request access to or correction of personal information in accordance with Australian privacy law.
9. Service Availability and Updates
The Service is still developing, and availability or features may change from time to time.
Landie may:
  • Install configuration or firmware updates
  • Make upgrades to improve safety or reliability
  • Temporarily suspend Service for maintenance or technical reasons
  • Modify pilot or subscription terms, with notice for material changes
10. Consumer Guarantees (ACL)
Nothing in these Terms excludes or modifies any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL). If the Device or Service does not meet a consumer guarantee, you may be entitled to a remedy under the ACL.
11. Disclaimers
Subject to the ACL and to the maximum extent permitted by law:
  • The Service is provided “as is” and “as available.”
  • We do not guarantee uninterrupted operation or specific call quality.
  • Performance may depend on your home network, internet provider, or power supply.
  • Landie is not liable for failures caused by third-party VoIP providers or telecommunications partners.
12. Limitation of Liability
Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under the ACL.
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
  • Landie is not responsible for indirect or consequential losses (e.g., lost data, lost profits).
  • For all other claims, Landie’s total liability is limited to AUD $100 per household.
  • We are not liable for outages caused by your home internet, power failures, or third-party providers.
13. Indemnity
You indemnify Landie against third-party claims arising from:
  • Misuse of the Device or Service by you or your child
  • Breaches of these Terms
  • Unsafe or unlawful installation or operation in your home
14. Termination
Landie may suspend or terminate access to the Device or Service for misuse, safety concerns, or technical reasons.
You may discontinue use at any time by unplugging the Device.
Sections covering privacy, liability, disclaimers, and consumer guarantees continue after termination.
15. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia.
 You agree to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
16. Changes to Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time.
 The updated version will include a revised “Last Updated” date.
 Continued use of the Device or Service after updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
