This Privacy Policy explains how Landie Communications Pty Ltd (ABN 71 691 334 291) (“Landie,” “we,” “us,” “our”) collects, uses, and protects personal information for the Retro Phone for Kids Pilot in New South Wales, Australia.
We comply with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), and we follow guidance from the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) and the Online Safety Act 2021 (Cth).
By using the Device or Service, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
From Parents (onboarding and support)
Name, email address, and phone number
Delivery address or suburb (for shipping and service records)
Confirmation of 000 safety acknowledgement
Any support emails or messages you send to Landie
From the Device / Service
Call log metadata generated by Twilio (e.g., calling and called numbers, timestamp, call duration)
No call audio recordings are captured or retained by Landie
Basic technical diagnostics (connectivity status, error events) for troubleshooting
We do not collect precise location data, photos, biometric data, or user-generated content.
2. How We Use Information
We collect and use personal information to:
Provide and operate the pilot Service through Twilio and the public telephone network (PSTN)
Communicate setup instructions, support, and safety information to parents
Monitor service performance and resolve technical issues
Comply with legal and safety requirements under Australian law and the Australian Consumer Law (ACL)
We rely on your consent (at onboarding) and our legitimate interest in operating a safe pilot program.
3. Children’s Information
The Device is for children aged 6–13 under the supervision of a parent or guardian.
Landie does not collect information directly from children. All call routing and metadata collection occur via Twilio as part of the network function.
We do not record or monitor conversations, and we do not provide call-log visibility to parents in this pilot phase.
The child’s assigned phone number is private and not published or shared.
4. Website and Cookies
Our website may use essential cookies for security and basic analytics only. You can disable cookies in your browser, but core functions may be affected.
5. Disclosure of Information
We disclose information only to:
Service providers and partners such as Twilio, which routes calls and provides VoIP/PSTN connectivity (including its own safety features and 000 routing as applicable to its network)
Cloud or technical providers who host data under confidentiality agreements
Professional advisers (legal or insurance) where necessary
Regulators if required by law (e.g., for product safety reporting or lawful requests)
Some service providers (e.g., Twilio or cloud hosts) may process data outside Australia such as in the United States. We take reasonable steps to ensure those providers protect data to Australian standards.
We do not sell, rent, or share data for marketing purposes.
6. Data Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the pilot’s scale, including encryption in transit and restricted access.
Parents should keep their home Wi-Fi network secure and supervise child use.
7. Access and Correction
Parents may request access to or correction of personal information relating to them or their child by contacting Landie (see Section 11). We verify identity and respond within a reasonable time.
8. Retention and Deletion
Call logs (metadata): retained for up to 90 days, then deleted or anonymised unless needed for legal purposes.
Support records: kept for up to 12 months after pilot completion, then securely deleted.
Diagnostics data: purged automatically on a rolling basis.
Parents may request earlier deletion subject to legal obligations (e.g., ACL record-keeping).
9. Direct Marketing
We do not direct-market to children. Parents may receive pilot updates or safety notices and can opt out of non-essential emails at any time.
10. Emergency Calling and Safety
The Landie Device operates over Wi-Fi using Twilio’s VoIP/PSTN service.
Twilio provides its own emergency-service features within the public telephone network; however, Landie’s pilot does not guarantee direct 000 access from the Device.
A safety notice is provided in the welcome materials and onboarding form to ensure parents understand this limitation.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. A new “Last Updated” date will appear at the top and any material changes will be communicated to pilot families via email or website notice.
